On the 26th July 2012 at Chatham Dockyard, Bigjigs Toys will be attemping to break The Guiness World Record for the longest wooden toy train track ever laid. They are expecting to use over 10,000 pieces of track to reach their target of 2012 metres which would well and truly beat the excisting record of 1650 metres. Doors will be open at 10am and Bigjigs are promising this to be a fun packed enjoyable family day with games, competitions and a childrens play area and best of all it will be free to members of the public to come along and watch this monumental attempt being made and cheer the team on. This is all being done for charity and Bigjigs are hoping that the public will involve themselves by sponsoring pieces of track at a cost of £1 each with all monies raised being split between the Chatham Dockyard Locomotive Restoration Fun and Demelza House Children's Charity. I was watching the new series of Gok's Clothes Road Show on Channel 4 last night and although I love browsing the high streets fashions from my arm chair and watching as Gok Tirelessly makes women look thinner simply by adding a belt to any outfit I was less than impressed by his homemade t-shirt . I love the idea of giving us crafty fashion tips, I can see the use for glittering up a pair of old heels but using spray paint to create a unique design on a plain white T I don't think any of us could pull off. Even with his creative flair the design produced was lack luster so how can any of us mere mortals expect to come anywhere close to producing something wearable. Plus I'm not entirely sure how practical it would be to wash. Nowadays customising a t-shirt shouldn't be so hard. A few weeks ago, a man named Vic Morgan came into our Totnes shop and thought it was brilliant. He asked if it would be possible to do a feature on our traditional toy shop, and I said yes, sure, why not - nothing wrong with a bit of free publicity. Before I knew it, he whipped a microphone from his bag, and started to interview me, really putting me on the spot and asking questions about the toys, our suppliers and enthusing and getting quite excited about all the toys in the shop. The interview wasn't live, it was recorded, so I didn't panic too much, as I thought at least they can edit out anything too bad! The interview was played at around 11'o clock that night, and news travels fast; a few days later, I recieved an email from my mum in Spain, who was so proud of her son, that she was inspired to write a poem about the event, which follows: - ADAM IS A RADIO STAR. The flyers Adam has been designing for the last couple of weeks arrived from the printers today. They are looking great! Just a Christmasy version of our regular flyer but with all our new products, top ten and some stocking filler ideas. Our Halloween stuff came off the shelves today, not that there was much left after a busy last minute rush. That just means one thing though.... Christmas is well on its way! Our Internet orders have been rising steadily just under 90 parcels left yesterday and 60ish today.
